Family Photos.

We wanted to get family pictures in Utah before we left. {Thank you, thank you, thank you, Lesley. What will we do without you?!?} One of many things I will miss about Utah is the beauty of the mountains all around me. They really are so majestic. I love these little boys. They crack me up.
Half way through the shoot...my annoyance with a certain son captured perfectly. :) I will leave you with these for awhile. Bryan takes the bar next week, Caden had surgery, and I have started packing. Good riddance. :)

Erika's Engagements

My little sister, Erika, is getting married at the end of August. I'm definitely not a professional, but I took her and Colson's engagement pictures and was pleasantly surprised with how many they had to choose from. It's hard to believe my little sister is old enough to be getting married. I'm so happy for her, and adore the guy she is marrying. August 21st will be a great day!

Random Thoughts

Bryan wants his kids to play soccer. I thought I agreed until I watched the World Cup. Are you kidding me?!? They get touched, fall over, and play dead. They weren't men, they were little girls in tutus. If my kids do choose to play soccer I'm teaching them to call everyone who acts like that a big pansy. And then they can kick them in the shins. Okay, I'm kidding about that last part.

Have you seen Julie and Julia? I believe in the movie Julie says some line like, "Cooking is the greatest comfort because you know as long as you follow a recipe it will turn out exactly the same each time." HA! She must be the biggest liar ever because that's never happened for me.

Reverse psychology no longer works on Caden. He wouldn't get out of the car after begging, so I drag him out after he jumped to the driver seat. "NOOOOOOO, me sleep in car, me sleep in car by self." Yeah, wonder where you got that great idea.

I really hate eggs. My mother and father in law got a chicken coop and it made me have this ridiculous thought. "Ashley, maybe by not eating you are really missing something spectacular, like if you'd never eaten chocolate." Well, then I saw the Kate Plus 8 when she got her chicken coop and they had an entirely egg dinner. I was literally throwing up in my mouth and had to leave the room. I am not missing anything. I hate eggs. And I cannot believe I had the audacity to compare them to chocolate.

I think because I was pregnant for basically three years straight that I have permanent hormonal damage. I cried at the end of Toy Story 3. Big tears.

And, yes, it sounds like all I ever do is watch TV. Lets get real here, when you are stuck indoors after 7:30 PM every night of your life watching TV becomes like going on a really sweet vacation.

July 2nd

I have always loved that my birthday is so close to the 4th of July. It's pretty fun to have fireworks on your birthday. This year Bry surprised me with an all day Birthday Date. We woke up early and went to Magelby's Fresh for all you can eat pancakes. So good. After I picked out a new pair of running shoes {yay! thank you mom and dad phipps.} we headed down to Jordon Commons for Toy Story 3. {had to do something to keep the boys entertained}. Caden was excitedly yelling for Buzz and Woody the whole movie and it was darn cute. Then after some more shopping {my husband is a saint :) }, we headed home for cake and a BBQ. Caden was not about to wait for the cake to be cut.

The kiddies getting ready to do Sparklers.Caden's experience went something like this: Steve and Josh putting on a show.
A Family Portrait of our fireworks experience:
Caden was terrified.
As this birthday came closer it was hard for me to wrap my head around being 27. Not because it's old, but because I can't believe I'm actually to this stage of life. Most days when I think about myself, I still feel like I should be a kid. But I'm not a kid any more. I have a husband and two kids of my own. AND we aren't college students any more; BRYAN HAS A REAL JOB! {more on that later...} Maybe some day I will reconcile with the fact that I am indeed an adult now.
Anyway, thanks to everyone that made my day so special. I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th of July celebrations as much as we did! {And much more than Caden}.

Lots of Catching Up.

Because of this...And because of this...

Reason 7,230,309,957 I love Bryan.

He surprised me by making a fire pit in our backyard. I was one happy girl.Sometimes I get really homesick. Not the homesick where you want to be somewhere else than where you are but more the nostalgic wish you could see old friends-relive favorite memories- smell scents of home-feel the humidity-kind of homesick. {I really wish I could just drag everyone that ever meant anything to me with me where ever I go. That would be nice.} Anyway, I LOVE bonfires. Growing up in a small, small town this is what we did, probably almost every weekend of the summer. Winter in Wisconsin did not allow that so much. It was always fun to me. Always. So, Bry made me a fire and s'mores, and it transported me home just for that evening. It was heaven. {And I'm well aware that I sound crazy.}

Oh and reason number 7,230,309,958 is that when I ran out of gas today (I'm not used to having a car, so I never worry about the gas...dumb, right, well that's my excuse) he came to my rescue.

Backyard.

Dear Backyard: We love you. This is probably the MOST perfect picture of Caden.
What's even more fun than a bubble gun? Having Dad spray you with the hose. And, homemade playdough. Pretty boring compared to outside!

6 Months Big.

It's hard to believe our family was ever without this little guy. His smile lights up our home. And I swear I spend half my day kissing those adorable cheeks. I want 6 more just like him!
He had his first taste of grass. He was not a happy camper when I took it out of his mouth. He just pulled some more and put it right back in where he wanted it.
